Sorry, sometimes Pam preaches people!

I learn the most from my family(who are brutally honest) and generally quite healthy and very ACTIVE.  I also learn from people who come to me for guidance when their MD’s only answer is medication and not life style changes.  Everyone I talk to genuinely wants to try to heal themselves on their own because they’ve heard or read that it can be done!

I will tell you about 3 people I’ve counseled in the last 6 months whose nicknames are MCHammer, DEE and Just Dave.  They all had different imbalances as revealed by their lab data.   Each one wanted to know exactly what they needed to do to get their health back in balance.

MC Hammer and Dee are 2 female specimens who took some advice from their doctors  but not all.  Both were told they had type 2 diabetes that could only be treated with pharmaceuticals including insulin.  NO F’in way said MC Hammer and Dee;  ‘let me try myself first’ and this is what happened…

MC Hammer and DEE took 90% of processed carbs OUT of their diets and that included bread, donuts, pasta, cookies along with ‘crapy treats and snacks’ as Just Dave confessed to me was one of his downfalls.

Finally my pants fit better Pam!

MC Hammer rarely goes out to eat because her husband is a chef and he always uses REAL whole food ingredients like fish and clams(after all, we live in the ocean state).   He also makes home made baked beans, chowder and clamcakes!  MC puts everything on a bed of greens.

Everything on homegrown greens

MC Hammer doesn’t deny herself a treat now and then but she reads the entire label including the serving size and always looks at the ‘type’ of carbs and the grams before she digs in on something slightly ‘off limits’.   MC Hammer and Dee don’t ‘want to stop’ because their labs are now within normal limits and both want to decrease their waists a bit more.    Even in the colder months,  physical activity continues on a daily basis for both, either inside with a daily project for MC Hammer or weight training and outdoor walking for Dee.

Dee is at her lowest weight in 5 years, her blood sugars are normal and she definitely proved her MD wrong!    Dee inherited a serious drive to stay healthy without pharmaceuticals from her 86 year old mother who continues to walk 5 miles per day!  As for the holidays, Dee’s plan will include a small treat here and there in addition to using ‘mini-fasts’ before and after the treats.  She also plans to include alot of vegetable sides to fill up the tank vs. starchy and processed carbs.  Failure to plan is planning to fail’…thanks for that one A!

Just Dave got rid of 7-8 sodas a day and never looked back!  He replaced soda with homemade iced herbal tea adding his own sugar in small amounts to flavor.  He also increased fresh fruits and vegetables along with a small amount of ‘roni’ to keep him satisfied in a snack pack for work.  He has lost 53 pounds of FAT in 4 months but above and beyond that, he rarely takes reflux medicine and has a daily workout that will probably land him in the running for Mr. Rhode Island(sorry Sammy)!

Damn, I think I need to lift more regularly like Just Dave and practice what I preach.

Next visit, I will challenge him to arm wrestle; wish me luck.

The common thread between everyone I see is they have chosen to do the work for improving their own health and well being.   They eat whole foods and less of it.  They plan ahead with mindful choices including daily activity; even in the cold with thermal underwear of course.

NO PREACHING PAM!!
